The prognostic value of the serum inflammatory biomarkers in patients with carotid atherosclerosis

20 % of ischemic stroke appear to originate from carotid artery atherosclerotic disease. Serum biomarkers reflecting the activity process and may help for estimate risk acute cerebrovascular events. Several serum inflammatory markers have been proposed assessment, but their prognostic role less known.
 The aim this study is clarify value atherosclerosis lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) E-selectin in patients with symptomatic asymptomatic stenosis.
 Materials methods. involved 106 stenosis >50 (74 men 32 women, mean age 62.6±0.9) which 76 (35 ipsilateral atherothrombotic 41 after endarterectomy) 30 patients. control group consisted age- sex-matched healthy subjects. level Lp-PLA2 was determined using a commercially available enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit.
 Results. Lp-PLA 2 general significantly higher (p<0.05) groups than most high concentration who underwent endarterectomy. (p<0.05). correlation significant total (R=0.365664, p=0.00085) endarterectomy (R=0.429143, p=0.01796), not (p>0.05). Receiver Operating Characteristics curves logistic regression models takes into joint both indicators specificity sensitive predicting occurrence stroke.
 Conclusion. Conducted show that levels impact on development can be used predict it. A multidimensional model dependence probability linear combination allows obtaining characteristics accuracy prediction each factor alone.
